<p class="MsoNormal">We are working on an assessment of our Public Information jobs and I’m hoping you may be able to help us out. Our current job series consists of three staff levels and three director levels. Allocations for directors are generally based
on size and scope of the agency and its communications program. The Public Information job series was originally designed to focus on written communications, such as press releases, as well as public relations activities. With the rise in popularity of social
media platforms and video communications, we have received a request to update the job series to include roles for video content creators. As we were evaluating these concepts, we are potentially looking at merging in other jobs such as graphic designers and
photographers since we have found that these positions often work under a Public Information Director in support of communications activities.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Thanks so much for your help! We’ve found this particular assessment to be a challenge since qualifications could vary depending on the role, but there tends to be few positions that work with communications activities at each state agency.
Your response will greatly assist us in determining if we need to create separate jobs for the various roles or if they could be combined for greater efficiency in maintaining our classification system. We are thinking that having the various roles in one
series may help with cross training between disciplines and allow for a more uniform career progression for communications-related functions.<o:p></o:p></p>
