Many of you were involved in surveys, regional meetings, and other data gathering activities that were crucial for getting the Strategic Plan completed. A hearty and heartfelt Thank You to those who participated!! One of the crucial components in this strategic plan is the idea that it can effectively be applied for each organization, agency, and enterprise if they choose to engage. Specifically, the plan presents the concept that the implementation plan for accomplishing the principles, goals, and objectives outlined in the plan is going to be unique for each organization that undertakes to achieve the strategic principles and goals. The plan recognizes that every individual and organization who use GIS and have GIS professionals, stakeholders, or users are likely at distinctly different levels of maturity and business integration with GIS, and will have different critical destinations to their GIS maturity journeys. The bottom line is that each organization must look at their own "current state" and develop the tactical plan that best addresses achieving the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan for their organization and staff. This also applies to the GIS organization at the statewide enterprise level and we are getting ready to develop that tactical plan for top level Strategic Plan engagement. This email is to put a call out for volunteers from any GIS organizations and domains across the state to participate on a working group that will be drafting the Idaho GIS implementation plan over the next few months. We are hopeful that the tactical plan can also serve as a model or template for organizations throughout the state as they develop their own GIS strategic implementation plans. We have three volunteers already from state and local agencies and would welcome 3-5 more to be on the working group. If you are able and willing, please contact me at the email listed below.
