Yes and I believe the same theory applies with respect to real property which is surrendered. The deed of trust requires insurance but the owner  basically rejects that executory contract. The contract being possession and ownership  in exchange for payment of insurance and taxes. In a 7 it is the trustee who rejects by not assuming.

Client discharged all of his liabilities on that contract when he filed ch 7
so I think his contractual obligation to provide insurance also was
terminated

I have a chapter 7 client who is surrendering his car to Toyota. They're
telling him that he has to keep it insured until they sell it. I would think
that once they've picked it up, it's under their care and control and their
responsibility to keep it insured. Any wisdom for me?
