To: Jessica McKinlay
Dear Jessica:
Thanks for the information. The last question I have is, how to pronounce your last name?
I thought it would be helpful to have some background on the Commercial Law & Bankruptcy Section of the Idaho State Bar, which I am sure you will be working with in the future.
Idaho formed one of the very first bankruptcy sections of the State Bar in 1982. Senior Judge Jim D. Pappas, Larry Prince, and I are among the remaining practitioners who formed the section at the annual bar meeting in Sun Valley that year. We have always had very successful winter seminar, and have been able to attract "world class" judges, practitioners, and professors. For example, Hon. Gene Wedoff has been out to Idaho at least half a dozen times, as well as Hon. Gregg Zive, Hon. Chris Klein, etc. In normal times, the location of the annual seminar rotates between Coeur d'Alene, McCall, which is where it started, and Boise, with occasional forays into eastern Idaho.
As you probably are aware, Hon. Jim D. Pappas, Hon. Joe Meier, and retired Hon. Terry Myers, have taught the Boise bankruptcy course, as a team. All of our judges have been extremely active in the section, which also maintains a listserve discussion group that you may wish to join: clbs at adminws.idaho.gov<mailto:clbs at adminws.idaho.gov>
I thought this would be a good opportunity to introduce you to the Judges, including our new judge, Hon. Noah Hillen, who grew up in my office-his mother has been my Chapter 7 assistant since 1984, and his sister, Naomi, works in my Chapter 7 office, as well.
Anyway, if you end up traveling north towards Schweitzer ski resort or Priest Lake this spring, give me some advance notice, and perhaps let's have lunch or coffee sometime.
Thanks.
Very truly yours,
Ford Elsaesser
