Blair,
Thanks for the information. I'm responding to you through the group because I assume I am not the only one who may benefit from your experience and insight with those computer programs. When I have a chance I will look into them. Thank you for sharing it.
Sincerely,
Bart Green

Bart, I forgot one thing--you mentioned the ease of getting all your stuff from the cloud. You can do the same thing with a standalone server and Remote PC. We decided that for us it makes the most sense. We use the Tabs3 accounting and practice management system and have for over 20 years, and it's NOT cloud-based. But we love it and it's less money than Clio or one of those. It does all our time and billing, practice management, document management, etc., and has been around a long LONG time. It started out with DOS so that'll give you an idea. We can't get to that on a cloud-based system, but Crashplan will back it all up continuously.

Laura and Blair,
I was the one who recommended CINcompass. We have used it for several years and we are pleased with it. It is cloud based. It seems to be fast and free of lag time. It seems work instantaneously. My legal assistant agrees with that statement. I can, and my legal assistant can, use it from our respective homes, from the office or I can use it when I'm at my place in Sun Valley. In the early years CINcompass had a few bugs. But whenever an issue arose my legal assistant would call them, and they always answered the phone, and they have been very responsive and got the issue resolved in what I considered to be a timely manner.
On another note, Blair mentioned that he has used Code42 for several years. I don't know what that is, and would be curious to learn more if he were share some additional information about it with the group. But we migrated our client files to the cloud after our server went down in late 2019. I had everything backed, up so data loss was not an issue. But I was weighing whether to buy another server or migrate to the cloud, and decided that cloud based services have been around long enough that I had a reasonably high level of confidence that they would be secure. I also liked the idea of being able to access everything from multiple locations, especially once the pandemic hit and working remotely became more attractive. First I tried Dropbox, and it was a total disaster. I could not recommend Dropbox to anyone. Next, I tried Microsoft's cloud services. I thought that it should seamlessly integrate with Office 365, I was wrong, and it too was a disaster. Neither of those services would accurately upload the client files. They didn't want to upload anything beyond a certain date/age. I have a lot of what I consider valuable intellectual property that I've built up in my forms directory over 32 years of practice. Dropbox was the worst and would deposit client documents into the wrong folders for the wrong clients. It was a mess to clean up, and then I had to delete it all off of Dropbox. Next, I tried Google's G Suite. I think that they recently changed the name. But Google G Suite worked like a charm where Microsoft and Dropbox did not. Google drive shows up in the file tree as if it were another local hard drive. The service has been very reliable and is reasonably priced. I also looked at Amazon web services "AWS", and it seemed to be too complicated for someone with a small office. I'm sure that it has also sorts of sophisticated services for larger enterprises, but I don't need those. So I passed on AWS after experimenting with it for a short time. Google has been great. I will also note that while Microsoft was one of the major victims of the recent Russian hack wherein the Russians got access to Microsoft's source code, Google was not hacked when all those other large companies were infiltrated. I'm sharing this information in case others are considering migrating to the cloud. It certainly helps reduce the amount of investment that you need to make in your on-site computer hardware. I hope that this is helpful to some of you.
Sincerely,
Bart Green

We tried out ALL of them that were referred and ended up with Cincompass. I forget who referred it but it's a LOT cheaper and looks like it'll work fine. It's also the least 'buggy.'

Hello - I would like some input from debtor's counsel on what softwear they use. I have used Best Case for many years. However, I just got my renewal and the price just keeps going up.
Does anyone use a different service for preparing bankruptcy schedules? What are your thoughts/recommendations? Thanks.
