Patrick, I don't doubt anything you said. Nor do I criticize the live seminar per se. If that's what you think, you're mistaken. My point, pure and simple, is that with all the new COVID cases, the problems that some of us have in trying to travel, and the fact that almost all seminars, court proceedings, etc., have video options, it's a serious mistake to have absolutely no mechanism set up to allow those of us who either cannot go or are afraid to go an option. I personally feel serious disenfranchised since I can no longer fly, nor can I leave Annie alone in her condition. But I also have COVID concerns, which have been expressed to the Board by several others besides myself.
I understand the work that goes on putting those on; keep in mind that I've done it myself. But for example, the ABI Rocky Mountain conference that I signed up for instead of CdA has BOTH a live registration option, with the parties, dinners, etc., AND a video registration that lets us attend the seminars, considered as "live" since they're real time, and stay home. Everybody wins. Hopefully the next planners can realize that and make these options. But I don't see anything that tells me that the Board even considered this as an option EVER. And that's really unfortunate.
I wish I could be there, and don't doubt it'll be a good one. But next time, you really need to consider ALL your members, especially with all the health issues statewide.

Subject: [CLBS] 40th Annual Seminar information
Good evening,
In response to input from the listserve, as well as emails directly to Board members, we have considered many issues regarding the format of this year's seminar. The Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section Board put a tremendous amount of thought and concern into this year's Seminar. Faced with constraints beyond its control, the Board decided to return to our traditional in-person program. Again, this decision was not made blithely. Safety remains a priority and the Coeur d'Alene Resort is well equipped to ensure a safe and enjoyable event for everyone.
A significant factor in the decision was the commitment the section made to our hosts regarding the 2020 Spring Seminar in Coeur D'Alene. Due to the pandemic, the Resort graciously allowed the section to postpone the seminar one full year. In good faith, we feel it is important to honor that commitment and return once again to Coeur D'Alene. As most of you are aware it is an excellent resort with top notch conference facilities (which have ample space for social distancing.)
The seminar has many excellent topics and speakers in addition to an opportunity to see many members we have not seen in far too long.
I sincerely appreciate the input and have tried to reverse the bankruptcy filing and COVID number trends through sheer force of will without success. We hope to see many of you in CDA and appreciate the difficult decision many are making to forego attendance. We look forward to seeing everyone in a safe, and not too distant, future.
