[NCASG] Paid Family Leave

Good Morning All,

Georgia allows Paid FAMILY Leave for the described circumstance. The definition of a child:


  1.  "Child" means a biological, adopted, or foster child, stepchild, legal ward, or a child of an employee standing in loco parentis, who is either under age 18, or age 18 or older and incapable of self-care because of mental or physical disability. This age limit does not apply for purposes of military Family and Medical Leave (i.e., leave for a qualifying exigency or to care for a covered service member.)

Hi All -
A quick question for any states who offer Paid Family Leave for employees who adopt a child. If your employee is a stepparent who is adopting a stepchild or stepchildren, would you allow paid family leave for that circumstance?

We have had a request to do so and our policy does not specifically make them ineligible, although one could say that was not the intent of paid family leave for adoption. Just hoping to get info on what other states who offer paid family leave have done or would do.
