Arkansas does not have an official state work week, although the standard working week is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Times falling outside of this area may qualify for shift differential, provided that they meet the statutory requirements.

The biweekly pay period runs Sunday to Sunday.

Hi Meghan,

Here is Washington’s civil service definition. There may be alternate definitions within our collective bargaining agreements. 😊

A regular recurring period of 168 hours beginning at a time determined by the appointing authority and continuing for seven consecutive 24-hour periods.

Good afternoon NCASG,

Wyoming is examining our definition of work start and end days based on agency requests. Currently our definition of the Official State Workweek is:

Each workweek shall begin at 12:01 A.M. Saturday, continue through for seven (7) consecutive days (168 hours) and shall end at 12:00 mid-night on Friday.

1. Does your State have an official workweek that applies to everyone or is this under agency control?
2. Do you have a definition of workweek (particularly start and end days) and can you share the policy?
3. How do you grant exceptions to the workweek and what exceptions do you currently have in place, for example, Phoenix (rotating) Fridays off?

Thank you for your help! Please reach out with any questions.

Meghan - WY
