Please send your accomplishments or highlights of some of the projects your agency or organization is working on to Pam Bond (pam.bond at idfg.idaho.gov) by October 5th (if you need more time, please let us know!) along with a short description or a few bullet points about the project and, of course, a map if you've got one... This will be presented at the Fall Bi-Annual Idaho Geospatial Council (IGC) meeting, which is being held during the URISA GIS-Pro & NWGIS 2015 conference, where we plan to highlight YOU or your agencies' amazing GIS work. If you are attending the conference and would like to present on your project, you are welcome to but it is not required. For those of you not attending the conference, we would be happy to share your accomplishments on your behalf. Additionally, Pam is planning to create a Story Map of Idaho GIS Accomplishments for submission to the Esri and URISA Story Map Challenge. Maps can be viewed at: http://gis.idaho.gov/portal/maps/gallery.html This month, we are featuring an "Idaho in the 80's: National High Altitude Photography" map, which is interactive. The National High Altitude Photography (NHAP) program was coordinated by the USGS as an interagency project to acquire cloud-free aerial photographs at an altitude of 40,000 feet above the mean terrain elevation. The color infrared photographs show green vegetation in red. The NHAP program was active between 1980 and 1989. Click on the NHAP imagery to see the date of the imagery, or use the swipe tool to compare NHAP data with current imagery. Your input is needed on an important Federal Initiative! The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is proposing for the first time in fifteen years revisions to the Federal Government's governing document establishing policies for the management of Federal information resources: "Circular A-130, Managing Information as a Strategic Resource". The state of Idaho has some of the greatest leaders in GIS. This is your opportunity to influence federal data policy. Please go to the links below, review the proposed policy and then submit your feedback! The deadline for comments is November 20th. The proposed revisions are open for 30-day public input at https://a130.cio.gov/ The public feedback period will start today and close on November 20, 2015. You can read more about the release of A-130 at https://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2015/10/20/modernizing-federal-information-policy.
