[StateGIS] 2011 NAIP image service now available through INSIDE Idaho

Good morning Imagery Users!

 

An image service for the 2011 NAIP is now available for public consumption through INSIDE Idaho's Geospatial Clearinghouse. The layer files (image service <http://cloud.insideidaho.org/data/imageryBaseMapsEarthCover/orthoimagery/2011_1m_idaho/2011naturalColorAndIR_1m_idaho.lyr>  and footprint <http://cloud.insideidaho.org/data/imageryBaseMapsEarthCover/orthoimagery/2011_1m_idaho/2011footprints_1m_idaho.lyr> ) may be saved/downloaded from the metadata record <http://cloud.insideidaho.org/webapps/search/search.aspx?searchterm=2011+NAIP&submit=Search> .

 

The INSIDE Idaho Image Service:

·         Is natively projected to the State Projection system: IDTM NAD83

·         Is a 4-band Image Service

·         Allows ArcMap 10.0 client-users to download (up to 1,024 at a time) overviews and primary rasters

·         Has OGC WMS & WCS enabled

·         Includes a map service with the primary raster acquisition dates with links to an FGDC metadata record for each primary raster and a download link.

 

For those needed to bulk download the imagery in other ways:

·         Bulk downloads are available using WebDAV as outlined here: http://cloud.insideidaho.org/webservices.html#webdav.  

·         Wget is handy for bulk transfer as well and there is an example for Windows users:  http://cloud.insideidaho.org/wgetExample.zip

 

ISU's GIS Training and Research Center <http://giscenter.isu.edu/data/index.htm>  will test 10.1 ArcGIS server services to determine if a substantial benefit exists using  pre-release 10.1.  Testing should be complete by mid-March.  If no substantial benefit is identified, ISU's GIS Center will build a mirrored NAIP service using 10.  Otherwise 2011 NAIP services from the GIS Center will be available with ArcGIS 10.1.
