As a sidebar...

Please remember the distinction between executing and certifying documents. Many of us deal with digitally signed worked products from Engineers and Surveyors. Those original documents need to use a digital signature with third party certificate security. The vendors are familiar with these requirements and can walk you through the moving parts.

Our office worked with the Secretary of State to enact Rules for the recorded versions of some of these documents. I would be more than happy to discuss these with anyone who needs information. The rules do not effect contracts or other business documents.

The Board of Tax Appeals does not utilize any electronic signature verification systems, but I would be interested to learn what others are doing.

One of my customers asked today about electronic signature verification systems, such as Verisign or Docusign. We have a growing need to use electronic signatures for our documents, particularly enforcement-related materials.

Do any of you have an existing signature-control system? How does it work, and what product(s) is it based on? Any recommendations?
