The Washington Supreme Court held last April that Washington's homestead exemption does not apply to real property outside Washington. The citation is In re Wieber, 182 Wn.2d 919 (2015). Here is a link to the opinion: https://www.courts.wa.gov/opinions/pdf/903310.pdf

Does anybody know is Washington's homestead exemption can be used extraterritorially? Debtor moved within past year from Washington to Idaho and has Idaho condo. Can he use Washington's homestead exemption to protect it from trustee's meaty paws?
