Hello State Bar--Bankruptcy Law Section Leader,

My name is Raychelle Tasher and I am the Chair of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Bankruptcy Law Committee. Professionally, I am a law clerk to Chief Bankruptcy Judge Kathy A. Surratt-States of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri in St. Louis, Missouri. We also have a wonderful Vice Chair this year, Betty Luu, who is an attorney at Donahoe & Young LLP in Valecia, California.

Today, I am reaching out to your Section, Committee and Bar Association in an effort to connect with young bankruptcy lawyers (lawyers under the age of 36 or less than 5 years of practice) and get them involved in our Committee on national level. For more information about the ABA Young Lawyers Division Bankruptcy Law Committee, please visit our Committee homepage here<http://www.americanbar.org/groups/young_lawyers/committees/bankruptcy.html>. Please feel free to share this information with young bankruptcy lawyers at your law firm and in your network. We will be updating the webpage throughout the year with committee newsletters, content, and other updates.

One goal of the ABA YLD Bankruptcy Law Committee this year is to develop opportunities for young bankruptcy lawyers to speak on substantive topics and write about current trends in both consumer and business bankruptcy law. We hope to engage your young lawyers in creating some of this content. This is a great and easy way for young lawyers to gain a national presence and improve their resume. Some of the opportunities for members to contribute substantive content include:

• 101 Practice Series Articles – These articles are online resources for new lawyers covering basic training in both substantive and practical aspects of law practice. They are an easy way for you to get a publication on your bio, show others at your firm that you are developing your professional presence, and contribute to our membership. Please let us know if your young bankruptcy lawyers might be interested in writing one! The Practice Series articles are available here<http://www.americanbar.org/groups/young_lawyers/publications/the_101_201_practice_series/bankruptcylaw.html>.
• Newsletter Articles – Short articles regarding recent legal developments in our field. The next newsletter is coming out in January, so please let us know if you are interested in writing! We are also seeking leaders to serve as Content Editors.
• Teleconferences – The committee will, from time to time, hold teleconferences where attorneys in our field discuss recent legal developments or a substantive bankruptcy issue. We will keep you up to date on upcoming teleconferences. Currently, we are scheduling a teleconference for next quarter and are looking for young lawyers to speak on a variety of bankruptcy law issues.

Finally, we would like to extend membership in the ABA Young Lawyers Division through growing the number of young bankruptcy lawyers on our Committee and Committee engagement. If you know of young lawyers in the bankruptcy practice area who may not be members, we encourage you to promote membership in the American Bar Association and specifically with the Young Lawyers Division Bankruptcy Law Committee.

If you have any questions about the Committee, how to get involved, how to submit articles, please do not hesitate to contact us. I can be reached directly at raychelle_tasher at moeb.uscourts.gov<mailto:raychelle_tasher at moeb.uscourts.gov>. Thank you and we look forward to working you in the future. Please feel free to share this information with your network. I have attached a pdf copy of this letter for your convenience.

Best Regards,

Raychelle A. Tasher, Esq.
Chair, ABA Young Lawyers Division Bankruptcy Law Committee
