Lingering just a moment too long at the Credit Abuse Resistance Education display at the ABI conference in DC this spring, I was recruited to investigate whether reviving the CARE program in Idaho is feasible. Ian Redman, the CARE Program Coordinator, invited me to attend a telephonic meeting today with several other CARE program representatives across the country. The email that follows and the attachment summarizes some of the topics addressed in that meeting.
CARE is now officially under the umbrella of the ABI and leading an effort to establish chapters in every state. As it turns out, several states encountered the same problems Idaho faced in available class room time. There is now an organized national structure giving support to states facing similar obstacles, something that was missing until recently. Among other things, CARE has more thoroughly developed curriculum and will be initiating a social media strategy.
I am impressed with what I am seeing from CARE and think it is worth considering a revitalization in Idaho. Please let me know if you have any interest in participating with a group of practitioners (basically, a committee) to build a framework for this effort. Preliminarily the work will involve tackling organizational issues under the new CARE structure, rather than setting up specific presentations. If you are interested in presentations, hopefully soon a request for presenters will go out, but I don’t think we are quite there yet.
Also, just a quick note, Ian asked (begged, cajoled, pestered, pressured . . .) me to give CARE a push forward in Idaho. However, leadership of the I-CARE group is certainly open to anyone who is interested. This is a good opportunity for some of the up and coming bankruptcy stars out there to step up to leadership in the bar, and a good opportunity for everyone to give back to our community.
The new CARE website is: www.care4yourfuture.org<http://www.care4yourfuture.org> Please go and check it out.
There will be a CARE webinar on September 5, 2:00 pm, Eastern Time (information below). I will forward the announcement and invitation to that webinar when it comes out.
Here we go again! Kelly

Subject: CARE Best Practices Call Follow Up
Hi all,
I wanted to provide follow-up information about the following things:
Best Practices Call
Thanks to those of you who joined. If you attempted to join but had technical difficulties, please let me know. I have also attached a write up of the major themes and points of discussion.
CARE Webinar-- September 5th @ 2 pm ET
Please join us for a CARE webinar to discuss major updates, growth and future plans. I'll be sending out an Eventbrite invitation to the entire coordinator team next week. Please forward the invitation to your current and prospective volunteers and any potential donors to CARE. It'll be a great way to help them learn more about CARE and the great things we are working on. This event is free and will not include any fundraising asks, so our judges will be able to invite people without cause for concern.
CARE Reception @ ABI Southeast Conference (Hilton Head, SC) July 28th @ 5:30 pm
If you'll be attending the ABI Southeast Bankruptcy Conference, please join us for a free reception on Friday, July 28 at 5:30 pm. It'll be a great opportunity to meet CARE volunteers in person and meet Anna and me if you haven't already! I will also send an Eventbrite invitation about this as well. Please forward onto your volunteer teams.
CARE Sub-Committee-- Call for Coordinators
Please let me know if you'll be interested in joining our quarterly Coordinator Sub-committee to help provide focused feedback and direction on where the National office directs its energies in supporting our chapters.
Thank you so much! If you have questions, please let me know.
Ian
