ARPA Bets Big on Accelerating Learning Recovery<https://campaignforgrade-levelreading.cmail19.com/t/ViewEmail/d/8CD0887614FD71B42540EF23F30FEDED/651E65EF354CE26D2438807772DD75D1>
As a result of school closures and lost instructional time over the past year, many children have fallen behind and urgently need extra support to get back on track. The American Rescue Plan Act designates billions of dollars for schools to help students recover and accelerate learning through the ESSER III set-asides, including $22 billion targeted for comprehensive afterschool and summer enrichment, presenting a unique opportunity to maximize those hours beyond school time to reengage, recuperate from learning loss and accelerate student growth and development.
Many community-based providers are asking how and when they will be able to access these funds. If funds are flowing to school districts and state departments of education, how can long-established programs led by nonprofit organizations partner with school systems to access funds? How can we make sure that funds are supporting the effective integration of enrichment, social-emotional learning and academics? How will these highly effective programs expand access to the 19.4 million children nationally who would participate if a program were available to them?
Join us for today’s GLR Learning Tuesdays webinar, 3–4:30 p.m. ET<https://campaignforgrade-levelreading.cmail19.com/t/d-l-qtljjtd-tiitidlyij-d/>, as we discuss how local programs can access and leverage ESSER III funds to 1) address learning loss, 2) operationalize better practices, and 3) spend the money wisely over at least 36 months.
