Greetings from North Dakota,
We are implementing a significant change to our classification system, effective next Wednesday, July 1st. The change is summarized in this one-page document:
https://www.nd.gov/omb/sites/omb/files/documents/agency/human-resource-mgmt/simplified-job-classifications.pdf
Basically what we are doing is moving from about 900 classifications to about 100, and revising the salary range structure from 22 grades to 10 grades. The 100 or so new classification are organized into 16 job families, with 5-7 levels defined within each family. The change is being handled as a translation from the old to the new. All the work has been done internally.
We implemented the Hay system in 2012, and we will continue to use it as the foundation for classification and for position evaluations. The primary change is that the nature, level, and scope of the classifications are being defined more broadly.

Good morning from West Virginia,
I hope everyone is staying safe. I have a few questions, and if you could respond to me by July 6, 2020 that would be awesome:
1. Has your state changed or implemented a new classification and/or compensation system?
2. Did you do it internal? Or did you contract with a firm/agency to assist?
3. If your state contracted with a firm or an agency, can you tell me why you chose to contract and not perform the change internally?
4. Have any of you moved away from or to a point factor system? Can you tell me why?
Thank you guys so much for all of your help!!!
Stay safe!!
