Greetings, Everyone
NSGIC offers a two-hour Web-based training on its GIS Inventory application (aka RAMONA). If you are interested in learning how to use and populate the GIS Inventory, let me know by April 9. We'll figure out a common time to schedule a session. An 800 number will be available, so the training is provided at no cost to you.
The GIS Inventory is an online tool to catalog spatial datasets, URLs and contacts for Framework and other data. Some Idaho GIS folks have populated it from time to time, but most of us don't remember it exists or have forgotten how it works. Users can easily get information about data across the country. More importantly, it permits others to tell at a glance the progress of each state in developing and maintaining Framework data and beyond. Funding decisions could be made, in part, based on information (or lack thereof) in the GIS Inventory. A metadata file is generated when you complete an entry-that alone is worth the trouble. Access Ramona's main page at http://www.nsgic.org/hottopics/ramona.cfm. To see what's in Idaho's inventory, go to www.id.gisinventory.net<http://www.id.gisinventory.net>. As you'll see, we have a ways to go.
I'll follow-up with a Doodle poll to discover the best a date and time.
Regards,
