State GIS,

I have set up a mailing list for the State Agencies GIS people: stategis at admws.idaho.gov<mailto:stategis at admws.idaho.gov>

I have added everybody (without asking) that was at or notified about the State Agency meeting we had Aug 31st.
I was thinking that we use this list for just the State Agencies - no vendors or other government entities.
If you do not want to be on the list please let me know and I will remove you.
If you know of anybody that wants to be added please have them let me know and I will add them.

I set up a list, instead of me just doing a distribution list, so that everybody can use it to communicate with each other.

Below is some information that I sent out to the Geotech list serve yesterday:

Everybody,

The newly-approved Idaho Land Cover Standard (S4240) has been posted to the IGO website - ... IGO<http://gis.idaho.gov/portal/coordination/standards.html> .
(posted toward the bottom of the page under - Land Use/Land Cover)
(this is the Standard approved at the August 18 IGC-EC meeting)

Also of interest is the recent ITRMC decision to delegate the responsibility for developing and approving geospatial standards and guidelines to the IGC-EC. - ... ITRMC<http://itrmc.idaho.gov/> .
(From a practical perspective this has been the way it has worked in the past, the GIS community developing a standard, IGC-EC recommending to ITRMC that it be adopted and ITRMC voting to adopt it). If you have any questions about his please let me know.

We had a meeting of the State Agency GIS people. I thought it went very well and have had a lot of positive feedback.
The highlights are:
Discussed doing an ESRI enterprise license - we are working on gathering the information need to investigate this.
Continuing the discussions and providing better coordination among the State Agencies.
Coordination between the State Agencies and IGO on developing standards and other issues.

Thanks for all the support I have received from everybody.

Cheers,
Bill
