Hi Terry,

South Dakota is in the middle of developing a new class and pay structure for IT jobs. Attached is a doc with the proposed levels of within the job series. We are still in the stage of identifying our different IT job series. Once those series are established, we will then move on to determining the number of levels within a series.

When available, I would like copy of the information you have aggregated.

Hi Terri,

We are currently working on updating IT classifications and would appreciate a copy of the results of your survey. I think this information will be beneficial since we are in the midst of assessing how many levels to approve for the proposed job series.

  1.  Do you use levels such as entry, journey, etc. in your professional non-trade occupations? What do you use?

Yes, see attached for the Levels of Work that we have defined. These are not IT-specific.

  1.  How do you assign job levels to your IT professionals? Examples: Entry, Journey or I, II, III.
We generally start at the entry level and build up from there. Large and/or complex job series may have multiples of the same level. We rely on distinctions in the duties to support multiples of the same level.
