[NCASG] Holiday Pay for Shift Work

Hi Sheena,
In Louisiana, for holidays not worked, the employee receives a "designated holiday" that is equivalent to the number of hours the employee is usually scheduled for on a day. For holidays worked, the employee is eligible for state overtime at the hour for hour rate if the number of hours worked does not rise to the number required for FLSA overtime. (See rules 21.7 - 21.9 for state overtime provisions)<https://www.civilservice.louisiana.gov/CSRules/Chapter21.aspx>. In addition, many agencies have established shift differential policies that provide an additional premium for working an undesirable shift, such as on a holiday.
For shifts that fall partially on a holiday, like a 6pm to 6am shift, it is my understanding that the employee would need to take annual leave for the portion of the shift that does not fall on the holiday.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance?

Good Afternoon NCASG Colleagues!
I am hoping you can tell me how your state pays shift workers (hospital, corrections, fire, police) for holidays not worked? And worked?
Right now we only pay 8 hours, even if the shift might be 10 or 12. We are curious if that is the common practice. Thank you and have a great weekend!
