Good afternoon,

  1. On July 1, 2022, Nebraska provided 2% general increases for classified state employees. In addition, members of the largest bargaining group (NAPE/AFSCME) also received 1% step increases with satisfactory performance. No additional increases are scheduled for FY 2023.
  2. In FY 2022, the NAPE/AFSCME step-plan was initiated that year, and current teammates were advanced two steps (one percent per step) with satisfactory performance.

Hello to all states! I hope a response will be easy for most states. These two questions are for general wage increases applicable to most employees in your state.

  1. What general increases have been applied - or are scheduled - in the current fiscal year? Do many employees (approximately at least 25% of the workforce) receive within-job step increases in addition to these general increases?
  2. What general increases have been applied in the previous fiscal year? Did many employees also receive within-job step increases in addition to the general increases?

For example, Wisconsin provided a 2.0% General Wage Adjustment on January 2, 2022, and will have another 2.0% General Wage Adjustment effective January 1, 2023. Although we have been expanding the use of within-range pay progression, less than 25% of WI employees are eligible for pay progression in a given year.

In November, I will share a concise compilation of results to all responding states. I have attached the compilation shared two years ago.

Please respond if possible by next Monday, October 31. Thank you so much!
