Good morning all,
West Virginia is working with the Public Service Commission to draft and
revise class specifications for Consumer Affairs Technicians. The purpose
of the Public Service Commission is to ensure fair and prompt regulation of
public utilities; to provide for adequate, economical and reliable utility
services throughout the state; and to appraise and balance the interests of
current and future utility service customers with the general interest of
the state's economy and the interests of the utilities. Specifically, these
positions receive complaints or questions from utility companies and the
public regarding their utilities. They interpret law, rules, general
orders, and policies pertaining to utilities (cable, water, sewer, etc.) to
guide utilities companies and act as a liaison for complainants/customers.
For example, if the utility company terminated electricity, these positions
work with the utility company to ensure they followed law, rule, policy,
etc. and work on either 1) work to resolve the problem if possible or 2)
ensuring the issue was handled properly.
