Good afternoon NCASG,

Wyoming is currently in the middle of a trades occupational study and one common discussion point we are encountering is related to our Custodial positions and Buildings and Grounds positions. Our Buildings and Grounds and Custodial positions range from a TDBG01 (Janitorial/Custodian) to a TDBG12 (Management/Operations). This family of our positions includes those whose purpose is to maintain grounds using hand or power tools or equipment and to keep buildings clean and in orderly condition. If you have a few moments, the following questions would greatly help us move forward:
Meghan – I actually have this on my radar to look at all the custodial, grounds, building maintenance type classes in Alabama.  It is going to be a 2021 project (Yipee!)  I’d be interested in your  results -  maybe I can just plagiarize from Wyoming!

1. What is the organizational structure of your Buildings and Grounds and Custodial positions? Any organizational charts you might be willing to share would be of great help.
Agencies are organized differently depending on needs
2. How are your Buildings and Grounds and Custodial positions classified? Any job descriptions you might be willing to share would be greatly appreciated.
All classes are merit system, job descriptions are attached
3. What are the pay ranges for your Buildings and Grounds and Custodial positions? Are there any certifications or other factors that impact pay?
Grounds  Worker - $20,671.20 - $29,215.20
Grounds Maintenance Crew Leader - $23,397.60 - $33,921.60
Landscape and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor - $31,468.80 - $47,808.60
Landscape Production Manager - $43,346.40 - $65,692.20  - requires a degree and a certification for ornamental and pest commercial application
Custodial Worker - $18,288.00 - $24,604.80
Custodial Worker Supervisor - $20,671.20 - $29,225.20
Building Custodian I - $21,715.20 - $30,703.20
Building Custodian II - $23,397.60 - $33,921.60
